The ordinary 'loaf' is like a large thin pancake, having
been cooked first on one side and then turned over and cooked on the other, on a
circular domed metal plate, which is placed over the fire, but often small
barley 'loaves' are made also, about the size of a flat scone.
Bread is never cut, always broken, and it is a wonderful
type of the Lord Jesus, who called Himself the Bread of Life, and whose body was
broken for us, that he might be the spiritual food for believers in all
generations.
